Common Questions
Clear Answers, Before You Begin.
Most patients arrive with the same handful of questions—about getting started, what we treat, how membership works, and what makes physician-led care different. Here’s what to know before your first conversation with
Dr. Blankenship.
01 · Getting Started
Becoming a patient
No. Most patients contact us directly and schedule a consultation without a referral.
Getting started begins with a consultation with Dr. Blankenship. During this 45–60 minute visit, you’ll discuss your health history, symptoms, goals, and concerns. Together, you’ll review what may be contributing to your current challenges and determine the best path forward.
Depending on your needs, that may include a consultation-only relationship, a focused treatment plan, one of our structured programs, or ongoing membership care. Our goal is to recommend the approach that best supports your health—not fit you into a one-size-fits-all model.
If you’re unsure whether Stillwater Medicine is the right fit, we’re happy to start with a Discovery Call before scheduling a consultation.
Your first visit is typically a 45–60 minute appointment with Dr. Blankenship. The goal is to understand the whole picture—not just a single symptom. You’ll discuss your medical history, current concerns, lifestyle factors, and health goals.
Depending on your needs, recommendations may include laboratory testing, body composition analysis, nutrition guidance, hormone evaluation, medication options, or a personalized treatment plan.
02 · Care & Conditions
What we treat
We commonly help patients with:
- Weight gain and difficulty losing weight
- Insulin resistance and metabolic health concerns
- Perimenopause and menopause symptoms
- Low testosterone and men’s hormone concerns
- Fatigue and low energy
- Prediabetes and metabolic syndrome
- Long-term health optimization and prevention
Our focus is not simply treating symptoms. We work to identify and address the underlying factors contributing to how you feel while creating a sustainable plan for long-term health.
Yes
When clinically appropriate, Dr. Blankenship may prescribe medications such as semaglutide or tirzepatide as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Medication is often one tool within a larger strategy that may also include nutrition, movement, hormone optimization, education, and ongoing medical support.
Our goal is not simply weight loss—it’s improving overall metabolic health and helping patients achieve lasting results.
Yes
Dr. Blankenship evaluates hormone-related concerns for both women and men and offers evidence-based treatment when appropriate. Recommendations are individualized and based on symptoms, medical history, and laboratory findings.
Yes
Laboratory testing is often an important part of understanding metabolic health, hormone balance, and other factors that may be affecting how you feel. Testing recommendations are individualized based on your symptoms and goals.
03 · Membership & Pricing
How working together works
No
Stillwater Medicine is a direct-pay practice and does not bill insurance companies. This allows us to spend more time with patients, provide individualized care, and focus on health outcomes rather than insurance requirements.
In most cases, yes
Many patients successfully use Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds for eligible medical services. Because individual plans vary, we recommend confirming coverage with your plan administrator.
Membership benefits vary by level but may include:
- Direct physician access through secure messaging
- Responses to questions, typically within one business day
- Preferred scheduling and appointment access
- Prescription management and ongoing treatment oversight
- Preferred pricing through select healthcare and wellness partners
- Discounts on laboratory testing and supplements
- Educational resources, workshops, and community events
- Continued support focused on maintaining long-term progress
Memberships are designed to provide continuity of care and ongoing access to your physician as your health needs evolve over time.
No
Some patients work with Dr. Blankenship through a consultation or focused treatment plan, while others choose one of our structured programs or ongoing memberships.
During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and help determine the approach that makes the most sense for your situation. There is no requirement to join a membership.
04 · The Stillwater Difference
Why our care is different
Yes
Stillwater Medicine is a physician-led practice. Dr. Blankenship personally evaluates, develops, and oversees each patient’s care plan. Whether you are seen for a consultation, participating in a program, or continuing through a membership, your care remains under her direct guidance.
Patients often tell us the biggest difference is that they finally feel heard.
We intentionally spend more time understanding the whole picture—your symptoms, lifestyle, health history, goals, and the factors that may be contributing to how you feel. Our approach combines Internal Medicine with a focus on metabolic health, hormone balance, nutrition, movement, sleep, and sustainable lifestyle change.
Rather than simply treating symptoms, we work alongside patients to create personalized plans that support long-term health, energy, and quality of life.
This depends on your goals and treatment plan. Some patients benefit from more frequent visits during an initial phase of care, while others may only need periodic follow-up appointments. Dr. Blankenship will recommend a schedule that fits your needs.
Yes
Many follow-up visits can be completed virtually when appropriate. Some services and assessments may require an in-person appointment.
