In Her Own Words
Why I Started Stillwater Medicine
As a little girl, all of my Barbie dolls were doctors, and I knew from an early age that I wanted to become a physician.
Inspired by my father’s involvement in overseas missions and by humanitarian leaders like Audrey Hepburn, I began participating in mission work at age 15 and continued serving on medical mission trips throughout college and medical school. Those experiences taught me that caring for people starts with listening, understanding, and building relationships.
After years practicing Internal Medicine and serving patients in both traditional healthcare and free clinic settings, I became frustrated by how little time physicians often have to truly partner with patients. Watching my father battle dementia further strengthened my belief that healthcare should focus not only on treating disease, but also on prevention, lifestyle, and helping people maintain their health, independence, and quality of life.
I started Stillwater Medicine to create the kind of practice I would want for my own family—a place where patients are known, heard, and cared for as whole people.

Outside the Office
Health That’s Lived, Not Just Practiced
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Blankenship enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, trail running, exploring North Carolina’s parks and greenways, and staying active outdoors.
Her commitment to health and wellness extends far beyond the clinic. Whether she’s running on the trails, working around Stillwater Farm, baking sourdough, or simply enjoying time with family, she believes many of the habits that build lasting health happen outside the walls of a doctor’s office.
Dr. Blankenship and her family have also served as foster parents, an experience that further strengthened her belief in the importance of patience, relationships, and meeting people where they are.

Our Name, Our Values
Why “Stillwater”?
The name Stillwater was inspired by Stillwater Farm, our family’s small homestead and a place that reflects many of the values behind this practice—intentional living, connection, stewardship, and taking time to focus on what matters most.
At Stillwater Medicine, we believe health is built through daily habits, meaningful
relationships, thoughtful care, and a long-term commitment to living well. Our goal is to
help patients improve not only how long they live, but how well they live.

The Four-Legged Ambassador
Meet Simon
Every practice has its personality. At Stillwater, part of that personality has four legs.

Simon is Dr. Blankenship’s energetic Border Collie and an enthusiastic ambassador for movement, fresh air, and outdoor adventure. When he’s not chasing a frisbee at full speed, you’ll likely find him exploring trails with the family or keeping a watchful eye on the baby chicks at Stillwater Farm.
Despite his friendly personality, Simon is definitely not a lap dog. He prefers a job to do, a trail to explore, or a frisbee to chase.
Much like Stillwater Medicine itself, Simon is a daily reminder that health is meant to be lived—not just discussed.
